| Finding
a Suitable - and Available - Website Address (Domain Name)
One
challenge which probably lies ahead is to find a suitable URL (domain
name) for your website. While it is preferable to use a
short address which identifies
your site's purpose, and is easily remembered and
correctly spelled, due to the millions of unique
domains already claimed, the task is not always an easy one. To
facilitate your search, the search tool below will enable you to
see what's available.
If your site
is specifically New Zealand related, you might consider using an
extension (the bit after the dot) of .co.nz (for
a business) or .org.nz (if non profit). If your
scope is global, you could consider .com, as in
top4value.com.

Finding
a Hosting Provider
Once
you have decided on a suitable domain name, you will need to find
a web hosting provider to "store" your website on their
servers. In most cases, you can in fact arrange both your webspace
hosting and your domain name registration
through the same provider.
If
you think of your webspace as a house, then your domain name would
be your street address.
It
is possble that your present internet service provider (the people
you pay for your email account etc) may also offer website hosting
as part of your package for little, if any, extra cost.
For
a listing of New Zealand hosting and domain name providers, I would
suggest a visit to the excellent NetGuide site
here.
Alternatively, in the back of each issue of their inexpensive magazine
there is a listing of current provider details. Needless to say,
I would be happy to guide you through the process of deciding on
an appropriate package and the sign-up process.
